For beginners, photo sharing can seem like a bizarre and magical thing. You click some buttons and your pictures appear on the computer. You click a few more and they shrink, grow, brighten, or turn different colors. One more push and they're off to the world, appearing in inboxes, on websites, and on those strange sites called things like "Facebook" and "MySpace".

Fortunately, this is an easy puzzle to solve. There's no reason that even the most computer illiterate person can learn all about photo sharing in a short amount of time. And once you've tried it once or twice, you'll be amazed at how simple it is and wonder why you haven't been doing this for years.

Step One: Uploading Photos

Obviously, before you can practice internet photo sharing you have to get those photos onto your computer. There are two ways to do this.

1. A digital camera is a quick and easy way to take pictures for photos sharing. Most cameras come with software that explains exactly how to get your pictures on the computer.

2. A scanner is used to import prints onto your computer through a copy scanner. Most printers have a scan option these days. If the scan option is available, directions for the simple process of copying your photo prints onto your computer is in most printer instruction manuals.

In other words, all you have to do is pop in a disc, or follow the written instructions, and move the photos from your camera or physical photo album onto your computer.

Step Two: Editing Photos

Editing photos means exactly what it sounds like. Take a good picture and make it even better by brightening colors, eliminating red eye, cropping the edges, and other such finishing touches. Before you can do that, though, you'll either need a program or one of the many online sites that let you edit your photos online. Don't skip this important step in photo sharing. Before you send those pictures off, you want them to look their very best!

Step Three: Sharing Photos

This is what you came here to learn about, after all. But photo sharing is actually the easy part. Once you have your pictures online and looking pretty, there are dozens of ways to share them with friends, family, and the world at large. The two main ones are:

1. Email: Use the "attach" function on your email server to link photos from the file they are saved in on your desktop to a message.

2. Websites: Dozens of free websites (such as Flickr, SmugMug, and Facebook) offer you the chance to practice photo sharing with others. The process is almost the same as for email. Just browse your files and upload the ones you want.

Have some fun cause that's all there is to perfectly, easy photo sharing.
