Thanks to great new features and tools photo sharing sites are adding, photo editing is now easier and quicker than ever! Be sure to look for sites that offer these tools as part of your photo sharing membership or as an external free service.

Whether you're a newbie or a pro, you will appreciate the convenience and simplicity that the new online photo editing tools provide. An increasing number of photo sharing sites are adding photo editing capabilities for you to use. But be sure to check before joining because not all sites offer the editing tools. Two of the photo editing and sharing programs are Picasa and Picnik.

Picasa

Google Web Albums has Picasa, an impressive photo editing and photo sharing software that you download to your computer. Do all your photo editing using the program's easy tools and when you're done, you can easily upload them into Web Albums (if you have an account), or you can email your photo, order prints, blog, create a collage of several photos, and so much more.

Work with your photos in Picasa to edit out red eye, lighten or darken, straighten, crop and add special effects like soft focus, film grain, tint, and sepia.

Picnik

Flickr provides a direct link to another great photo editing tool called Picnik. You can access it directly from within your Flickr account to edit photos you've uploaded into your account. When you're done using Picnik for photo editing, you can immediately send the edited photos back to Flickr.

Picnik works with photos in MySpace, Photobucket, Picasa, Webshots, Freewebs and Facebook. You simply load selected images from one of these accounts into Picnik to start editing.

Picnik is unlike Picasa in a number of ways. It is strictly a photo editing tool, whereas Picasa gives you several other capabilities, such as organizing your photos into sets in preparation for uploading them to the internet. Also, Picnik works online, whereas Picasa must be downloaded to your hard drive.

After choosing a photo from one of your photo accounts, begin using the extensive photo editing tools provided. Clean up your images, straighten and crop them, lighten and darken them. For some extra flair add creative elements such as borders, graphics or bizarre designs to your image.

With both Picasa and Picnik, all the photo editing tools at your fingertips. Click a button, move a slider, switch tabs, and try out more elements until all have been exhausted. When you've seen all the fabulous things you can do with your photos, decide which elements are preferred to make every one of your images unique.

The final step is to save the edited photos to the computer, email them, or post them to a preferred photo sharing account or blog.

Photo editing has never been easier. With the extra tools that many photo sharing sites such as Picasa and Picnik are now providing, photo editing is now an exciting and simple process!
