Five Mistakes People Commonly Make On TinyPic
Online roadmap to success on TinyPic
TinyPic is a popular photo-sharing site owned by Photobucket, another excellent site. TinyPic lets you display your photos on other sites such as MySpace and eBay as well as on blogs and message boards -- for free. Upload your video or image and TinyPic provides you with a simple, unique URL. Copy and paste that link to share your pictures on your favorite sites without having to upload your image or video all over again.
It sounds easy -- and it is. But it doesn't hurt to review the common mistakes below to make your TinyPic experience a guaranteed breeze.
The Big Easy with TinyPic
1. Incorrect search methods
If you receive negative results while running a search on TinyPic, it could be because you used the wrong search methods. Your search must be letters only (no numbers or special characters) and your keyword must be more than three characters.
If you follow these rules and still receive no results, it's most likely the related photos do not have tags, or were tagged with different words. Try different keywords.
2. Using accounts for commercial solicitation
TinyPic does not allow people to use the site to solicit business through their photos and videos. TinyPic removes affiliate links wherever they appear. In some cases, administration will close a member's account without notice for violating this rule. The obvious solution is to ensure that none of your photo and videos solicit business or contain commercial content or links.
3. Using TinyPic to back up photos and videos
Some users think of TinyPic as a great place to back up their images. They don't realize that the site does not offer a back up service. You should realize that if TinyPic experiences major technical difficulties or deletes all or some of your account, you could lose your images.
It's always smart to maintain your own backups on your computer or on a site that does provide back up services. This will help prevent the loss of your precious photos and videos.
4. Using other people's work on TinyPic
All photos and videos on TinyPic are copyright protected. If you put copyrighted images in your account without written permission from the original owners, administration deletes them from your account.
TinyPic can delete your entire account for this serious violation. Make sure your content is your own or that you have permission to use it.
5. Image codes don't work
You can share all your uploaded content on other sites by applying the appropriate code provided by TinyPic. Each code is specific to its use. Be sure you choose the right code.
HTML code goes on web pages, IMG code works on forums and message boards, and URL code is for use in emails. If your account is private, however, you will not see this code.
You can use the Direct Link for Layouts option to link to an image in your account from your own style sheets or HTML pages. This code is not available for TinyFx images.
Knowing these five key points will help you avoid these common mistakes and ease your TinyPic photo-sharing experience.
