Photo sharing can be confusing to newbies. To start sharing sooner -- and faster -- just review the following questions and answers about PictureTrail.

1. How do my friends get to see my photo albums?

One of the great things about PictureTrail is the special URL you receive when you sign up. This makes it easy for your friends and family to see your photos because they don't have to create their own accounts and they don't need to know your login information.

It's important, therefore, to choose a good user name when you sign up for a PictureTrail account. A nickname is great because your guests probably already know it, which makes it easy for them to remember your PictureTrail URL.

Just direct them to your special URL, which looks like this: http://www.picturetrail.com/username. Replace the "username" portion with your actual username, which is also your account name.

2. Why am I having trouble uploading my photos?

There are several reasons:

Your photos are in the incorrect format. PictureTrail only accepts photos in jpg, gif (non-animated) or bmp format. If they are in any other format, you'll have to change them using a photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements or you can use the editor available on PictureTrail. The best format is jpg.

Your photos are too large. PictureTrail limits file sizes to 4 MB. If your photos are larger, you can easily resize them with photo editing software.

Uploading can take a long time if you're using a dial-up modem and your photos are more than 200 kb. This is another reason to limit your photos to a size that maintains image quality while limiting upload time.

Problems related to photo size often occur when uploading from a digital camera. Some cameras save images in high resolution, creating photos that are close to 1 MB each. Set your camera to save images in a lower resolution to overcome this problem.

3. Can I sell my photos using PayPal?

PayPal and Google Checkout buttons capability make PictureTrail the ideal host for eBay users. You can add these buy buttons to your photos as long as you have an account with PayPal or Google.

Once you have your PayPal or Google account, follow the instructions on the site for getting the buy button code.

Go to your PictureTrail account and locate the photo you wish to use with the button. Click the Edit button related to the photo. Next, click the word "edit" beside the image. Insert the button code into the description box for that image.

Then, spread the word about your PictureTrail image gallery.
