A Consideration of Adobe Photoshop Express Problems

In the last few weeks, everyone's been buzzing about Adobe Photoshop Express' problems and benefits. The beta site allows users to sign up for a free account, edit their photos online, store and share them, and use them with a variety of social networking sites. But we've talked about all those benefits. Let's see what has people annoyed.

Remember that Photoshop Express is in beta. Adobe will doubtlessly improve and refine their services as they go along (especially since they will probably begin charging for advanced services in the near future). These are currently the biggest Photoshop Express problems.

1. Difficulty signing up

Many users have complained about the difficulty of actually getting an Express account. Some claim that the site refuses to accept certain email addresses, freezes when processing memberships, and takes forever to upload photos. Keep in mind that most of these people have been able to obtain an account with a little patience. It's just a pain in the neck.

2. Inability to resize

Remember when you first got that new digital camera half a decade ago and tried to send pictures to your friends, only to have them come through twice the size of your computer screen? And remember how you figured out that you had to resize the darn things to a manageable scale before you sent them?

Unfortunately, this is one of the big Photoshop Express problems: there is no way to do that. You can't quickly or easily prepare your images for the web because you can't easily export to a small file size.

3. Lack of features

Some of Photoshop's more popular features are missing from the Express site. This is fair enough, as the site is currently a free service. People should be aware that they won't get exactly what they would from Photoshop software.

4. Terms of Service

We've mentioned it before but it's worth bringing up again, because the terms of service are the biggest drawback to using Adobe Photoshop Express. Read them carefully, because they basically give Adobe permanent, unchangeable rights to all of your photos. Adobe can change them, use them, make money off them -- be very careful here.

You might not care about some photos, but don't make the mistake of thinking your 2 GBs of storage gives you privacy.

The beta version of Adobe Photoshop Express leaves much to be desired. Before you sign up, make sure you consider these Photoshop Express problems.
