Are you ready to try Picasa, Google's photo sharing software? Don't worry! It's one of the easiest things you'll do all day and we'll walk you right through it.

Picasa In 5 Easy Steps

Check out these simple steps to effortlessly create an account on Picasa.

Step 1. Navigate to the Picasa website.

Step 2. Click on "Try Picasa Now" and the software will begin to download. Select an appropriate place to store this software and wait for the download to complete.

Step 3. Once the download finishes, Picasa will automatically search through every folder on your computer looking for images to import into your account. Before you know it, every photo on your hard drive is organized by date into folders on your new Picasa page - even that scanned copy of your resume.

If that makes you a little uneasy, know this: you can decide which pictures get organized with a simple change of settings. Just click on "Tools" at the top and then on "Folder Manager." You'll see a screen with a list of every folder on your computer's hard drive. Click on any of those folders that you don't want searched, then click on "Remove from Picasa" in the box on the right.

Step 4. After all of the photos are added to your Picasa account, you can add descriptions to your albums to help stay organized.

To add captions and labels (descriptions) to each photo individually, right click on the photo and then click on "Label." A screen will pop up where you type in a photo description and caption.

If you want to rename a group of photos at the same time so that they're not called 1234.jpg anymore, right click on the folder title from the left menu bar. Select "Edit Folder Description" and type in a new name for each of the photos in that folder.

Step 5. Now that you have all of your Picasa photos uploaded and named, you're ready to start editing your photos and sharing them with friends. Right click on the photo you want to edit and select "View and Edit" from the options. Editing options like cropping, redeye removal, and color buttons will be displayed on the left.

Within minutes you'll have every digital photo in your arsenal at your fingertips. It's time to download Picasa, edit and share!
