No Fuss, No Muss: How to Send Webshots with Skitch
Cool, quick Skitch in 3 easy steps
For all the bells and whistles, the coolest thing you can do from a website is send webshots with Skitch. Plasq's newest image editing software, available as a free download in its beta version, provides a quick, easy way to share photos and webshots with your friends. In just a few simple steps, you can post your online discoveries for all the world to see.
3 Steps to a New Application
1. Taking a Webshot
Obviously, before you can send webshots with Skitch you have to know how to take one. Macs have easy built-in shortcuts to taking a screenshot, but with Skitch, it's even easier.
First, find a website you want to capture. Next, activate Skitch by clicking on the little heart icon in your upper right hand menu (it runs constantly unless you actually quit the application, in which case you'll need to reopen it). To take a webshot, simply click "snap" in the Skitch application and select the area you want to photograph.

2. Working with the Image
From here, you can edit the webshot however you like. You can add drawings, shapes and text. You can also crop the picture or change its size. Because the creators expect that you'll send webshots with Skitch, what you see is what you get: there are no weird sizes or anything to adjust for.
That means you can adjust the size of the photo simply by adjusting the size of the window. To crop or enlarge the shot, just place the cursor on the edge of the photo: it will turn into a double arrow that lets you resize automatically.
3. Sending the Picture
The easiest part of all? Sending the webshot! Simply open your email application, write your email and then drag the photo (from the place at the bottom of the screen that says "drag me") to the email itself. Hit send, and you've finished sending a webshot with Skitch.
If, however, you want to post the photo to your blog or website, just hit "webpost," which loads the image to your Skitch page. Hit "share" to visit the site, where you'll find the picture and a variety of html codes, including links to this page and links to embed your picture in a blog or forum post.
With a bit of practice, you'll wonder how you ever lived before you could send webshots with Skitch.
