3 Steps For Backing Up Your Photos With SmugMug
SmugMug photo protection
Chances are, your online SmugMug account contains a menagerie of important photos as well as memories of times passed. One major concern for many users of online photo sharing sites is the safety of their photographs. Don't you want your photos to be protected?
Keep your Photos Safe with SmugMug
Although SmugMug boasts that your photos are secured in three different ways and that they can be retrieved at any time, there's always that chance that a photo (or two) could be lost. Avoid this by creating a backup CD or DVD. It's not inexpensive, but it is easy and worth it for many people. In several very quick steps, you can back up those precious treasures and you'll never have to worry about them going missing again.
Step 1. Navigate to the SmugMug website.
Step 2. Once you're there you'll need to decide how you want your backup created.
If you only want to backup one specific album of photos, click on the album from your homepage. From this page click on the "Gallery Tools" dropdown box next to "Tools." Click on "order backup" and follow the steps to complete the order. The site will automatically calculate your cost.
Select "order backup" from the top menu bar of your home page if you would rather create a backup for several albums of photos. SmugMug will walk you through the steps, and then you'll be asked to enter your email address and a title for your backup CD or DVD. Enter this information and click on "Continue."
Step 3. SmugMug will ask you for your billing and shipping information. Your backup will be mailed to you within days!
A CD containing up to 650 MB of data costs $11.99 and $10.99 for every 650 MB thereafter. DVDs can also be created for $22.00 for each 1 GB of photos and $3.50 for each additional 1 GB. Shipping is not included in these costs. Although the CDs are a great and easy way to store your backups, they are not made to play on a DVD player. So, make sure you make the right decision about which format is best for you.
Your worries about losing photos will soon disappear with SmugMug backups. In less than ten minutes you've created a disc with your photos intact.
