How to Create iPhoto Slideshows
Wow 'em with iPhoto slideshows
iPhoto allows you to create great photo slideshows on Mac computers -- and you can even add your own music. It is perhaps the fastest and easiest way to create a slideshow on any computer.
Next stop: iPhoto Slideshows
First, organize the photos you want to include in your slideshow into an album. Then, select the album click on the + sign at the bottom of the window, then choose Slideshow, and name your Slideshow (or simply click "slideshow" on the bottom window if you're using an older version of iPhoto). All of your album photos will automatically appear in a new slideshow with the same name. You can still add and delete individual photos.
Check out the bottom menu for a list of icons -- your guides in creating iPhoto slideshows. From left to right, they are:
Play: Clicking "play" starts the slideshow in full-screen mode.
Preview: Starts the slideshow in your iPhoto window.
Effect: Makes single photos appear black and white or sepia toned to provide an interesting visual dimension.
Transition: Controls how your photos switch between one another. There are numerous options so preview several to get a feel for what you like.
Ken Burns Effect: Makes the "camera" pan across your photos when in play mode. Beneath it, you control whether the pan is from the start or the end.
Adjust: Change how long your photos appear, their transitions and the speed of transitioning.
Settings: The basic toolbar that controls the general settings for your iPhoto slideshow. Probably the most important setting is whether you want to music to repeat during your slideshow, or if you'd prefer for all the slides to fit to the length of the music played once.
Music: Select a song from iTunes or elsewhere on your computer to automatically play under your slideshow. The song begins once you click "play."
Forget about Great Uncle Fred's grainy, groan-inducing slideshow. Your iPhoto slideshows will have friends and family clamoring for more. You can see an example of an interesting iPhoto slideshow here.
