Slideshow of a Wedding
Here's an example of a wedding slideshow which was created using iPhoto
Many people don't realize that slideshows are one of the best ways to share their photos. Check out this example of a wedding slideshow that Audri created last weekend. The photographs were taken by Audri and Jim, and the music is by Jane Roman Pitt.
The Slideshow
We'll start by showing you the slideshow. Then, we'll tell you the story behind it and how to create a slideshow like this yourself. (The response to this slideshow has been amazing, btw.)
Here's the Story Behind the Slideshow
Several weeks ago, my housekeeper got married. Christina invited us to the wedding, and was very pleased when we offered to take candid pictures of the wedding.
Taking photographs during the wedding was an enormous amount of fun (even though the light was awful). Afterwards, the question was: how to share them. This is where a lot of people are stumped.
I decided to do three things:
1. put them all on a CD so Christina could upload them to her favorite photo sharing website, make prints, etc.;
2. create a slideshow (more about this in a moment); and
3. let her pick the photos she liked best and then create a wedding photo book as part of her wedding gift from us.
Let's come back to #2, the slideshow. This is something most people don't do -- and, as I discovered this past weekend, that's a huge mistake.
How to Create a Slideshow in iPhoto
Creating a slideshow is simple in iPhoto. You can literally do it in about 10 seconds. Here's how:
You click on the + at the bottom of the left nav bar and then select Slideshow. You give the slideshow a name (like Christina and David Wedding) and click "Create." You then select the photos you want for the slideshow and copy them into your slideshow.
I like to click the "Ken Burns Effect" checkbox at the bottom of the window.
Then click Play at the bottom left part of the main window. Your slideshow will start to play.
That's all you need to do!
I got a bit fancier with this slideshow though. I added different music to my slideshow. I used an mp3 version of a song my good friend Jane Roman Pitt wrote (which is an absolutely amazing song for a wedding!) and which she played and sang at the wedding -- so it had special meaning.
I also changed the order of the photos so they flowed better with the music. That's really easy to do -- you just click on a photo in the top photo strip and drag it to where you want it.
Note: the quality of the photos in the DVD version of the slideshow is MUCH better than on YouTube.
I hope you enjoy this real life example of photo sharing using a wedding slideshow.
