Getting Creative with iPhoto covers!

Don't be content with boring front pages: have fun creating your iPhoto covers!

No matter how beautiful your book, iPhoto covers leave something to be desired. If you're not sure how to adjust the settings, the books can seem quite rigid, not leaving much room for creativity. Fortunately, that isn't the case! You can have a lot of fun with iPhoto covers, inside and out!

Outside Covers

We have here the most basic of iPhoto covers from the modern lines theme. Unfortunately, most of the book covers are very similar (an understated dark blue/gray check pattern), and you can't do much about it. Different themes will mix things up a bit by playing with the center frame.

Obviously, I'm going to insert my title. But why not have a bit of fun with the front cover?

Make sure you pick your opening photograph carefully! The reason iPhoto covers are so important is that they're the first thing people see when they look at your book. You want to have one of your very best pictures -- ideally, one that communicates what your book is all about.

One of the cool things about iPhoto is how many effects it can snap into your photographs. You could go with a regular picture, or you could jazz things up by making your cover shot black and white, sepia, or antique. It all depends on what you like.

If you have a really good photo, it's best to leave it unaltered (unless you've altered other photos throughout the book in a theme). I really enjoy this picture just as it is, so that's how I've left it!

From there all you need is a snappy title, and you're set to go!

Inside Covers

Of course, iPhoto covers don't stop with the front. There's the inside cover to deal with, too. Different themes have different setups, and your best bet is to play around until you find one you like. Personally, I prefer a picture on the introduction page. After all, this is a story in pictures.

When it comes to writing an introduction for iPhoto covers, many people freeze. If you're creating a gift, the introduction becomes easier: a personal message, a favorite poem, or a shared memory all make great openings.

But what if you're just assembling your book for the love of photos?

Fortunately, there are several ideas you can try:

-leave it blank (delete the prewritten text)
-Fill in personal details
-Include basic information (dates, names, etc.)
-Find an interesting and appropriate quotation (which is what I've done here!)
