Photo editing allows you to create the best photos possible

Thanks to digital photography, the original photograph that you take never has to be the finished product. Photo editing is made simpler and simpler with photo editing technology and new photo editing software programs, such as Windows Photo Gallery.

If you are getting ready to share photos or if you simply want to improve the look of your photos for personal enjoyment, take some time to learn how to perform each of these simple photo editing maneuvers -- you'll be glad you did.

Easy Photo Editing Steps to Improve Your Photos

First, make yourself familiar with the simple photo editing palette that comes with your photo viewing software. To find this palette, simply open your photo in the default viewer, such as Windows Photo Gallery (see below).

In this screenshot, you will see a button at the top of the image for "fix." Click on the button and a photo editing palette will appear at the right of the image as such:

With this simple photo editing palette, you can do an auto adjust, which will automatically change your colors to the best color balance; you can change the exposure, which will increase or decrease light; you can adjust the color to make certain hues pop and other fade; you can crop the picture, which means resizing it to focus on one particular area of the photo; and you can adjust the red eye.

Here's how to do some of these simply steps:

Crop

When you click on the "crop" button, an image like the one below will appear:

Using the square handlers on the crop box, simply drag and reshape the crop box to create the desired focus, size and shape of your final photo. Your final photo may end up looking something like this:

Adjust Exposure

The Adjust Exposure option allows you to change the brightness and contrast of the photo to your desired preference. Here's an example of what that option might look like:

Simply drag the sliders back and forth over the brightness and contrast options until you have the color that you prefer. This is a simple photo editing tip that can make a huge impact in your final product.

Adjust Color

The Adjust Color palette will help you add more or less of a certain type of color to your photo. Here's an example of what that palette might look like:

You will see that you can adjust the temperature (tone), tint, and saturation of the photo. Play around with these options until you have exactly the right color that you are looking for. This is also the palette to use if you want to create a black and white or sepia photo.

The end result after you perform your photo editing could end up looking drastically different -- and often much better -- than your original photo. Compare the color, tone, and cropping of the original photo below with the new edited photo which was created using simply Windows Photo Gallery editing software.
