Photo album ideas for any style and purpose

If you have photos that you would like to share in a photo album, take a moment to think about some creative ideas for sharing those photos. Many photo albums are lined with page after page of photos, some of which may have captions to tell a story. Here are some fun ways to share photos in a photo album that will make the experience unforgettable.

Mixed Media

Who says that you can only have photos in a photo album? There is a distinct difference between creating a photo album and a scrapbook. However, if you have photos that you would like to share, but also have additional media that may help to tell your story, why not combine them?

If you have a bunch of photos from a recent vacation, print the photos and place them in the photo album alongside brochures, postcards, tickets, and other memorabilia from the trip.

Found an extra-special postcard? Cut up your photo and put your loved ones in the postcard. This is especially fun if you have a postcard of an aquarium and want to create the illusion that your children were swimming in the aquarium.

Have your friends or scrapbooking partners share their own stories in the photo album. To do so, you can give each of them an index card on which they can write down their most funny or endearing memories of the trip. Place this memory next to the photo of it in the photo album, if applicable.

Use Color

Most photo albums have simple white backgrounds on the pages. In order to create a little flair to your photo album without a lot of trouble, simply use colorful pages as the background for your photos.

To do this, simply purchase a three-ring binder or three-ring photo album from any arts and crafts store. Purchase page protectors and multi-colored card stock. (Card stock is better than colorful paper because it holds up, whereas paper might fold over when you turn the page). Be sure to buy paper that is archival quality though or it won't last.

Use a non-acetone and photo-safe glue or tape to adhere your photos to the pages of your new photo album. You will now have a colorful photo album to share with friends and family.

Change the Size

There is no rule that a photo album needs to be the size of a three-ring binder. Instead, some of the most creative photo albums are simply photo albums that are created out of small notebooks.

One way to create a fun photo album is to select a notebook that is just slightly larger than your photos. Tear out every few pages so that you are left with only enough pages in the notebook to accommodate your photos. (Again, buying a notebook with archival quality paper is a good idea if you want it to last.)

Next, adhere your photos to these pages. If you left any extra pages, you can write notes about the photos. This type of photo album is especially fun if you want to create something special for a loved one on a special occasion, such as an anniversary or a child's birthday.

Photo sharing with photo albums can be as fun as you would like to make it. Whenever you're sharing your photos in an album, always keep in mind that just because old-fashioned photo albums tend to be large binders filled with photos, your photo album does not have to be. So get out there are assemble your album... in a fun way!
